About Us

Northern Rockies Fire Rescue is a composite department comprised of Fire Chief, Deputy Fire Chief, six Career IAFF (International Association of Fire Fighters) Firefighters, a Fire Administration Assistant / Dispatch and up to 20 paid-on-call fire fighters. This highly competent team of professionals proudly serves more than 6,000 people in a fire district of approximately 45 square miles.

Services and Apparatus

Northern Rockies Fire Rescue operates a versatile fleet designed to respond to a wide range of emergencies, including:

  • Two pumpers
  • One 75-foot quint (ladder/pumper combination)
  • One heavy rescue unit
  • One CAFS 3000-gallon pumper/tender
  • One CAFS mini pumper (also used for medical first response)

In addition, the department maintains:

  • Four fire pickups
  • A sprinkler protection trailer
  • A hazardous materials (HazMat) trailer
  • A dedicated training ground facility
Specialized Response Area

The Northern Rockies Rescue team provides specialized services that covers approximately 15% of the Province of British Columbia, including:

  • Auto extrication
  • High angle rope rescue
  • Hazardous materials response
  • Swift water rescue
  • First-Responder Medical Care
  • Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting
  • Confined Space Rescue

The Northern Rockies Regional Municipality (NRRM) has purchased the building at 5013 Cordova Way (the Cameron Building) to serve as the new home of Northern Rockies Fire Rescue. Read more about the location change here.
