This October, residents of the Northern Rockies Regional Municipality and School District 81 will be going to the polls to elect the Mayor, Councillors and School Trustees for a four year term.

Results

Positions to be filled by this election:

  • Mayor: 1 person to be elected
  • Regional Councillor: 6 persons to be elected
  • School District #81 Trustee: 5 persons to be elected

General Voting Day is the third Saturday in October: Saturday, October 20th – 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.

Additionally, there will be two advance voting opportunities, a Special Voting Opportunity at Fort Nelson General Hospital and a mail ballot voting opportunity.

The polling station will be located in the lower lobby of the Northern Rockies Municipal Hall, 5319 – 50th Ave South Fort Nelson.

What’s New?

Due to changes in the Local Government Act, and in consultation with the Union of BC Municipalities, elections are being held in October instead of November.There a few ways the 2018 election will be different from previous elections.

  • Due to changes in the Local Government Act, and in consultation with the Union of BC Municipalities, elections are being held in October instead of November.
  • New campaign financing rules are in place for candidates under the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act (LECFA).
